Zara has set the tone for fall-winter fashion with the release of their seasonal editorial campaign. What I love about Zara is their commitment to creating a high street brand that has the elements of luxury styling.
When you compare Zara to other high street brands, their fashion, styling and focus on editorials and campaigns set them apart.
The collection is titled Abstraction with the editorial having a heavy focus on abstract art and sculpture. The theme has the models immersed in a studio “creating” sets using foam, wood, paint, canvas and lighting. The use of different artistic mediums is a theme that features heavily into the collection. From the mix of textures, fabrics, silhouettes and colour the ready to wear pieces and styling creates an eclectic point of view.
What are some of the themes of the collection?
CONTRAST
One thing that stands out in the collection is contrast. Shirts, blazers and coats have a fabric or colour contrast to enhance and reinterpret winter classics. Printed shirts have a bold coloured collar and blazers have a contrast lapel collar.
TAILORING
There are three key tailoring looks in the collection. Each suit features the same silhouette with a classic fit jacket and relaxed bootcut tailored trousers. The first suit is a stone grey colourway with contrast white topstitching.
My favourite is a camel suit with a white streak in the lapel. Let’s not forget about the black pinstripe wool suit with a contrast fabric lapel.
TEXTURES
The standout textures have to be the pile jacket, jacquard knitwear and mohair pea coat. Leather trousers also feature in the collection, giving you luxury trousers to incorporate into the autumn-winter fashion.
PRINTS
Prints are bold and artistic, with abstract watercolour and patchwork designs leaning heavily on the artistic theme of the collection.
ELEVATED STAPES
The collection challenges you on your expectation on wardrobe staples, giving them a playful update. My favourite is the trousers with a double waistband design. The classic polo is updated with a half zip instead of the usual button-down closure.

ACCESSORIES
When it comes to the details of the look jewellery is the icing on the cake. Each piece is gold, adding elevation to the styling. Necklaces feature a leaf pendant design with rings and bracelets having modern designs.
The tote and crossbody are the hero bags of the collection. Each style is made of a mixture of colours to create a patchwork/colour blocking design.
