It’s winter, and you cannot afford to make any fashion mistakes. The season is harsh, cold and takes no prisoners regardless of how fashionable you are. It’s time to break those bad habits and learn how to equip your wardrobe better to handle the winter season.
Here are 5 winter fashion mistakes you are making and how to solve them.
1. NOT WEARING SOCKS WITH CROPPED TROUSERS
I get it. You are not over summer, and you still want to show off your ankles, but the whole point of winter fashion is to keep warm. Giving the cold wind easy access to run up your leg is not helpful regardless of how cool it may look.
2. NOT WEARING A SCARF
Overcoats and pea coats are just a few examples of how some winter coats leave the neck area exposed. A scarf instantly solves that problem and provides warmth to the neck area.
3. NOT WEARING SUNGLASSES
What if I told you that the sun shines all year round. And yes, even during winter, when there are fewer hours of daylight. I must admit I always forget to pack the sunnies because I never equate the cold with the sun. Do better than me and always remember to wear your shades. Crows feet are real and will prey on dry winter skin.
4. NOT WEARING ENOUGH LAYERS
If I can give you one tip for winter styling, that would be layering. It’s an easy way to get warmth without having to buy heavy or bulky jackets.Â
5. WEARING A THIN JACKET
The best advice I can give you is to invest in a winter coat. You do have to spend a lot, but the return on investment is invaluable. I see so many people suffer as they wear light jackets during single-digit temperatures. If you have a coat without any padding or a coat without wool, then you need to leave it in your spring summer wardrobe.Â
