There is always a pressure to have the latest product.
To be seen wearing the most recent trend and still have newness in your wardrobe. While the idea of ever refreshing your wardrobe is great in principle, it’s a daunting prospect. Creating a whirlwind of problems, such as being a broke ass b*tch.
It’s all over Instagram.
With influencers parading their new clothes or brands sponsoring them pushing product in your face. Random unknown brands invade your Instagram feed due to annoying algorithms. With cookies enabled, that product you were looking at is now present on every page, hounding you to your grave. You walk through the high street with a promise of a new seasons wardrobe tempting you into every store.
I encounter this temptation on a day to day basis and I know I’m not the only one. It requires a measurable amount of control. Control not to give in to your impulses, being ok with not having the must-have trend piece of the season. Relinquishing your wish list, knowing that eventually, something better will come around.
Every season there will be something that you will love.
When you come to terms with the fact that you will never catch up, it becomes easier. My trick is to find a happy medium within this endless cycle. Knowing when to indulge and when not to. Having that internal dialogue with myself and saying. “it’s ok to miss out”.
This approach will help you be in control. Instead of chasing a trend, work with what you already own.
Relax, take a breath, forget about what you don’t have and fall in love with what you currently own in your wardrobe.
